Abandoned Dog Chained to Trash Can Finally Gets the Help He Desperately Needed

A dog who spent days chained to a trash can in a muddy woodland has finally found the safe and loving home he always deserved.

During a period of record-breaking rainfall, a teacher heard a dog crying somewhere deep in the woods behind her school. Concerned, she went to investigate and discovered a small Pit Bull chained tightly to a trash can. The dog was soaked from the relentless rain and standing in thick, squelching mud.

The teacher initially hoped someone would return for him, so she continued checking on the dog for several days. But he remained in the same place, crying and desperately seeking help. Realizing he had been abandoned, she contacted animal rescuers.

Rescuers from Stray Rescue of St. Louis made their way through the rain and muddy terrain to reach him. As soon as they arrived, the frightened dog seemed to understand that help had finally come. They broke the heavy chain and helped him into a warm vehicle.

The rescuers soon discovered that the chain had badly rubbed the skin around his neck. He was also covered in dirt and carried an extremely strong odor from spending so much time outside in the wet conditions. They jokingly called him one of the “smelliest” dogs they had ever rescued and named him Weatherman.

Despite his difficult past, Weatherman immediately showed affection toward his rescuers. He repeatedly gave them kisses and stayed close to them during the journey to the shelter. At one point, he rested his head on one of their heads and peacefully closed his eyes.

At the shelter, Weatherman drank an entire bucket of water before receiving a much-needed bath. He was nervous during his first bath, but he gradually began trusting the people caring for him.

Weatherman was soon placed in a foster home, where he began discovering what life inside a loving home was like. Eventually, he was adopted and renamed Manny.

His first adoption ended because of separation anxiety, but his second family decided to give him another chance. This time, Manny thrived.

Today, Manny lives happily with his family and another dog named Coco. They play, cuddle, go jogging, and even enjoy trail runs together. The once-abandoned dog now has the love, comfort, and companionship he was missing for so long.

Manny’s journey proves that giving a rescue dog another chance can completely transform a life.
