Dog Left Injured After Being Shot and Doused in Bleach Finally Finds the Love He Deserves

A dog who survived a horrifying act of cruelty has finally found the loving home he deserves. Winks, a Pit Bull who was shot in the face and covered in bleach, was adopted by a family of first responders who helped give him a second chance at life.

Detective Tim Elliott was responding to a call in Indianapolis when he and fellow police officers discovered Winks abandoned and seriously injured.

Recognizing that the dog urgently needed medical attention, Tim and the other officers rushed him to an emergency veterinary facility. According to Stephen Fippen, who shared the story through a fundraising campaign, Winks’ chances of survival initially appeared extremely slim.

Investigators suspected that his former owner might have used bleach to conceal DNA evidence, although the exact circumstances surrounding the attack were not fully established.

After learning about Winks’ condition, Tim and his wife, Tiffany Elliott, decided to take him into their home as a foster dog. Tiffany works as a paramedic in Wayne Township, and the couple hoped they could help him recover.

A Foster Dog Who Became Family

It didn’t take long for the couple to realize that Winks belonged with them permanently.

After spending a few months caring for him, Tim and Tiffany decided to make the arrangement official and adopt him.

Tiffany described Winks as an affectionate dog who loved nothing more than spending time close to his people.

He enjoyed relaxing on the couch, cuddling and climbing into someone’s lap whenever he had the opportunity. Despite the painful experiences he had endured, he remained a happy and loving companion.

Tiffany explained that they had originally brought him home intending to foster him. However, after only a few days together, she realized that saying goodbye would be too difficult.

The couple decided that Winks would stay with them forever.

His recovery had required several surgeries, and veterinarians had to remove one of his eyes because of the injuries he sustained. Fortunately, he eventually regained his health and was able to enjoy a much more comfortable life.

A Second Chance With People Who Love Him

Winks, who had once been abandoned while suffering from severe injuries, was now officially part of the Elliott family.

The Indianapolis Animal Care Services team was delighted to hear that he had found a permanent home with people committed to his well-being.

The organization celebrated his adoption in a social media update, congratulating Winks and his new family and expressing how fortunate he was to have such loving people supporting him.

His journey was a reminder that even after terrible experiences, animals can still find safety, affection and companionship.

Thanks to the officers who stopped to help him, the veterinary professionals who treated his injuries and the family who opened their home, Winks received the opportunity to begin again.

Today, he no longer has to face the world alone. He has people who cherish him, a comfortable place to rest and all the cuddles he could ever want.

The dog who once needed someone to save his life has become a beloved member of a family that refuses to give up on him.
