A Heartbroken Pit Bull Appeared to Cry After Being Abandoned at a Shelter — His Reaction Left Everyone Emotional!

It was the tears in a Pit Bull’s eyes that first caught Sarah Sleime’s attention.

Sleime regularly visits Charlotte Mecklenburg Animal Care & Control (CMACC) in North Carolina. But during one visit, a dog named Cinnamon stood out from all the others.

Her sad expression and slumped-over posture immediately caught Sleime’s attention. The seven-year-old Pit Bull looked heartbroken, as though she had lost everything she had ever known.

A Mother Dog Abandoned Without Her Puppies

As a volunteer with the Great Charlotte SPCA, Sleime spoke with shelter staff to learn more about Cinnamon’s background.

She discovered that Cinnamon had most likely been used as a breeding dog. At seven years old and overweight, it was possible that her former owners no longer considered her useful.

The poor dog had reportedly been abandoned at the shelter without her puppies.

“Someone dumped this poor mama at the shelter, minus her babies,” Sleime wrote on Facebook.

She also described how Cinnamon reacted whenever she stopped to speak to her.

“Every time I stopped to talk to her and say I was sorry her eyes would fill with tears (check out reaction at -:13). Heartbreaking!!”

Watching the lonely dog struggle emotionally was too much for Sleime to ignore.

A Heartbreaking Video Reaches Thousands of People

Sleime shared a video of Cinnamon on social media, and it quickly went viral.

People were deeply moved by the Pit Bull’s sad expression. Soon, Sleime began receiving numerous messages from people interested in adopting her and giving her a loving home.

Among those who saw the video was Meghan Shelton, a close friend of Sleime.

Shelton immediately felt connected to Cinnamon and wanted her family to meet the dog.

“I have a special place in my heart for pit bulls,” Shelton told The Dodo.

“I think they’re a very misunderstood dog and a misunderstood breed. And when I saw her in that video, literally crying in a cage, I cried. My kids cried. I showed my husband, and he said we could go look at her tomorrow.”

The family decided they wanted to give Cinnamon a chance at happiness.

The Moment Cinnamon Met Her Future Family

When Shelton and her family finally met Cinnamon, something beautiful happened.

Her tail began wagging excitedly, and her entire expression changed. The sad, lonely dog who had once sat quietly in her shelter kennel suddenly looked full of happiness.

Sleime captured this special moment on video, too.

Cinnamon looked around the room with a huge smile on her face, wagging her tail as if she couldn’t believe what was happening.

It was as though she knew that her difficult days might finally be over and that a loving family had come to take her home.

The happiness on her face said everything.

Cinnamon Gets a New Name and a New Best Friend

The Shelton family knew immediately that Cinnamon belonged with them.

They decided to rename her Rosie, giving her a fresh start in a home where she would be loved and cared for.

The family already had another Pit Bull, a three-year-old male named Blu. They were initially unsure how the two dogs would react to one another, so they planned to introduce them slowly.

But Rosie and Blu seemed just as eager to meet each other as their humans were.

The dogs whined with excitement while waiting for their introduction. When they finally came face to face, they behaved as though they had known each other for years.

A Once-Lonely Dog Finally Finds Happiness

Rosie quickly became an important part of the Shelton family.

Her new family told The Dodo that she had already worked her way into their hearts, and they could hardly imagine their lives without her.

The Pit Bull who once sat sadly inside a shelter kennel now has a comfortable home, a loving family, and a new canine companion.

Her story is a beautiful reminder that older dogs deserve love and a second chance, too.

Cinnamon entered the shelter without her puppies, carrying the sadness of an uncertain past. But thanks to one volunteer who noticed her tears and a family willing to open their hearts, she became Rosie.

And this time, she didn’t have to wonder whether someone would come back for her.

She finally had a family to call her own.
