As Meghan Markle’s estranged father faces disturbing allegations involving suspected child sexual abuse images, his granddaughter has revealed that the investigation “doesn’t surprise” her. She says she had sensed for years that something about him felt “off.”
Thomas Markle, 82, is a retired Hollywood lighting director whose troubled relationship with his daughter, Meghan Markle, has remained in the public eye since her marriage to Prince Harry in 2018.
Now living in the Philippines, the former royal father-in-law has become the subject of a disturbing investigation after his son reportedly discovered suspected child sexual abuse material among his belongings.
According to Page Six, Thomas Markle Jr., 60, claimed he found “hundreds, if not thousands” of suspected images stored in several boxes. He reportedly handed the material over to local authorities.
The allegations emerged in late October, bringing another troubling development to the Markle family’s long-running public disputes.
‘Tom Is Trying to Destroy Me’
Thomas Markle Sr. has strongly denied the allegations and accused his son of making false claims to damage his reputation.
“I’m shocked, I’m hurt and I’m very upset that my son is making these accusations against me. It’s just a bunch of lies,” he told the Daily Mail. “It’s sick. I have no idea why Tom is trying to destroy me with these lies.”
Reports have also suggested that the investigation has deeply distressed Meghan, 45, who has been estranged from her father for several years.
However, another member of the family has now shared a very different reaction to the allegations.
‘Something’s Off’
Noelle Rasmussen, the daughter of Meghan’s half-sister Samantha Markle, told The Telegraph that she had often felt uncomfortable around her grandfather, although she could never fully explain why.
“Maybe it was a vibe that I subconsciously got… something’s not right about a person, and you don’t actively register it. But your body tells you when something’s off”

“Maybe it was a vibe that I subconsciously got…something’s not right about a person, and you don’t actively register it,” she told the publication on October 27.
“But your body tells you when something’s off,” she continued.
When discussing the allegations, Rasmussen admitted that she was surprised by how unsurprised she felt.
“It doesn’t surprise me. The more and more I think about it, it just doesn’t…I don’t know why it’s not a surprise.”
Supports Meghan
Although Rasmussen described the allegations as disturbing, she made an important distinction: she said she had never personally experienced abuse at her grandfather’s hands.
“I’m glad that I had never been victimized or had the chance to be victimized,” she said, while acknowledging that she could not know what another person might be capable of.
Rasmussen also expressed support for Meghan’s decision to keep her children, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, away from their grandfather.
“I support her decision to prevent her kids from seeing him. I wouldn’t want my kids around somebody who was being accused of child molestation,” she told The Telegraph.
The allegations remain the subject of an investigation, and Thomas Markle Sr. has denied any wrongdoing.
