Tiny Kitten Survives a Terrifying 15-Minute Ride Inside a Car Engine, Then Finds a Loving Home

A Tiny Kitten Was Trapped Inside a Moving Car for 15 Minutes — What Happened Next Will Melt Your Heart!

An ordinary drive in Malta became an unforgettable experience for Dylan Portelli when he heard faint meowing coming from somewhere inside his vehicle. Curious and concerned, he decided to pull over and investigate. What he discovered beneath the hood was a tiny kitten hiding inside the engine compartment.

According to Lovin Malta, the little animal had somehow climbed into the engine bay and remained there for approximately 15 minutes while the car was traveling. Fortunately, Portelli noticed the unusual sound before anything terrible happened.

He carefully rescued the kitten and temporarily looked after it before finding it a loving new home. Sharing the experience on Facebook, he wrote, “They know where to go, these little blessings.” He also added, “As they say, the right person!”

For the frightened kitten, this unexpected encounter became the beginning of a much safer life.

Why Was the Kitten Hiding Inside the Car?

Cats naturally search for warm and protected places, particularly when temperatures become colder. A recently driven vehicle can provide a comfortable hiding spot because its engine remains warm even after being switched off.

Unfortunately, engine compartments contain several dangers, including hot surfaces, moving belts, and mechanical fans. A small kitten hiding inside can suffer serious injuries if the vehicle starts moving again.

An Important Reminder for Every Driver

Portelli also revealed that this was reportedly not his first experience discovering a kitten inside his vehicle. His story highlights why motorists should never ignore unusual sounds coming from their cars.

Before starting a vehicle, drivers should knock on the hood, check around the wheels, and look underneath the car. If they hear meowing or scratching, they should investigate before turning on the engine.

If an animal is trapped somewhere difficult to reach, contacting an animal rescue organization or veterinarian is the safest option.

A Small Act of Kindness Made a Big Difference

What makes this story especially heartwarming is that Portelli did not ignore the tiny cries coming from his vehicle. Instead, he stopped, investigated, and helped an animal that could not save itself.

The kitten escaped a potentially deadly situation and eventually found a new home.

Sometimes, saving a life requires nothing more than paying attention. A few seconds of checking your vehicle before driving could protect a helpless animal from serious danger.
