A dog ᴡɪᴛʜ ᴏɴᴇ ʟᴇɢ becomes ᴀᴅᴏᴘᴛᴇᴅ from a woman obtained from ʙʀɪɴᴋ ᴏF ᴅᴇᴀᴛʜ sᴀᴠᴇᴅ sᴀᴠᴇᴅ. Ain ʟᴇɢɢᴇᴅᴅɪsᴀʙʟᴇᴅ dog was injured by a woman who gave her dog to sᴀᴠᴇᴅ. Giselle, a small dog, was spotted on traffic surveillance cameras six days after she went to bed on one leg, but Natalia George of Flori, Kent, friends of Rᴇsᴄᴜᴇ, could not allow it.
Natalia George, founder of Flori’s Friends Rᴇsᴄᴜᴇ in Kent, made the incredible decision to pick up an 11-month-old puppy on the side of the road and adopt it. A German shepherd cross named Giselle was spotted by traffic cameras at ʙʀɪɴᴋ ᴏF ᴅᴇᴀᴛʜ and must have had two legs and ᴘᴀᴡ ᴀᴍᴘᴜᴛᴀᴛᴇᴅ. Ten months later, Natalia “couldn’t let her go.”
Part of the reason was Gisele’s complex needs and the “incredible bond” they developed. “The amount of ʙʟᴏᴏᴅ, sᴡᴇᴀᴛ ᴀɴᴅ ᴛᴇᴀʀʀ we experienced meant everything,” said Natalia. When Natalia first saw Giselle from the street last February, her children and her friends were with her.
Flori’s friends “couldn’t judge her mobility” and called it “the charity’s biggest challenge yet.” Natalia believed that despite the long and difficult road ahead, she would do everything in her power to keep her pup alive. “I have a duty of care. My job is to keep animals safe. “It’s been an amazing journey together,” she said.
Flori’s friend Rᴇsᴄᴜᴇ originally intended to find a home for Giselle, but Gisele’s needs became so great that “it was not safe to take her in,” he said. “We take care of a lot of dogs, but Gisele is in a different situation,” Natalia said.
Natalia decided that she would marry Giselle as she knew Giselle would seek out her family to help her. Giselle now lives in her house in Natalia, and she is the girlfriend of Flori’s friend, Rᴇsᴄᴜᴇ. “Even though she had a different personality, I couldn’t give her up,” said Natalia.
Giselle now has a custom four-wheeled cart from America to help her get around, and ᴘʀᴏsᴛʜᴇᴛɪᴄ ʟᴇɢ given to her by a cattle expert. She also has ᴀʀᴛʜʀɪᴛɪs ᴀɴᴅ ɪɴᴄᴏɴᴛɪɴᴇɴᴄᴇ – but “none of which, for Giselle to enjoy ʟɪꜰᴇ ᴀʙsᴏʟᴜᴛᴇ fᴜʟʟᴇ. ‘st’.” Her favorite children are ᴄʜᴀsɪɴɢ sƫᴜɪʀʀᴇʟs, who walk her bike for two hours every day.
“Giselle had the will to live. She couldn’t live otherwise,” Natalia said. Her bills for Giselle totaled just over £15,000 in one year. That’s a huge amount for a small charity. Natalia has launched a sponsor page to encourage all supporters to donate as much as they can.
Flori’s friend Roche has many dogs like Giselle who need forever homes, but Natalia can’t house them all on her own. If you want to give another dog a home, visit that dog’s ᴀᴅᴏᴘᴛion page.
