At only six weeks old, a tiny puppy named Tuffy experienced unimaginable cruelty after chewing on his owner’s mobile phone. In a horrifying act of abuse, his owner poured boiling water over him and then threw him from a fourth-floor balcony onto the concrete below.

Tuffy was discovered by a young woman named Yan, who immediately stepped in to save him. For two weeks, she took the severely injured puppy to a local veterinarian every day. Despite receiving treatment, Tuffy’s condition continued to worsen, and he remained in tremendous pain.
Refusing to give up, Yan eventually drove him to an Animal Asia sanctuary near Chengdu, China, hoping its veterinary team could provide the specialized care he desperately needed.
Veterinarian Emily Drayton was devastated when she saw Tuffy. His injuries were so severe that the medical team could hardly believe he had survived. His body was covered with terrible burns, and his condition appeared almost hopeless.
The veterinarians considered whether euthanasia might be the kindest option, but after observing Tuffy’s determination to survive, they decided to fight alongside him. He began receiving constant care and attention around the clock.
For months, Tuffy endured bandages, treatments, and painful recovery. His burns had caused serious damage to his joints, leaving his elbows and knees fused against his body. His eyelids were badly burned, forcing him to sleep with his eyes open.

Eventually, skin grafts helped repair his damaged body. Slowly, signs of a happier puppy began to appear. Tuffy started eating properly, wagging his tail, closing his eyes while sleeping, and eventually playing again.
He was especially excited whenever Yan visited. The woman who had rescued him had become an important part of his new life.
Tuffy ultimately returned home with Yan, where he could finally live without constant pain and fear. Surrounded by love, he even became known for wearing adorable coats and sweaters.
