For weeks, a sweet young dog waited outside a school, hoping to see the children who passed through its gates every day. He seemed especially happy when the students arrived, staying nearby and watching them with a gentle and hopeful expression. When the children finally went home, the lonely dog had nowhere else to go. He would simply lie down on the cold concrete and wait for another morning.

The skinny stray had been living around the school for several weeks when Milan, a rescuer from Dog Rescue Shelter Mladenovac in Serbia, received a call asking for help. Concerned about the dog’s condition, Milan immediately went to the school to find him.
When he arrived, Milan quickly realized that the young dog needed urgent medical attention. One of his back legs was badly injured, and his body was extremely thin. Milan estimated that the dog was not even two years old, making his condition even more heartbreaking. Despite his young age, it was clear that he had already experienced a great deal of suffering.

Milan was able to pick him up easily and take him to a veterinarian. After examination, the dog was diagnosed with anaplasmosis, a serious tick-borne illness. He was also suffering from a severe infection in his thigh bone, which explained the painful condition of his injured leg.
At the shelter, the dog finally received the care he had desperately needed. Over the following months, he began to recover slowly. He received nutritious food, medical treatment, and plenty of attention from his rescuers.
Eventually, the Pointer underwent surgery to repair his damaged leg. After surgery and continued care, his health steadily improved. He began gaining weight, eating well, and becoming stronger each day.
