The San Diego Humane Society (SDHS) recently welcomed an extraordinary senior dog after a Good Samaritan found him wandering alone and brought him to an animal hospital that works with the rescue organization.
“Saving lives takes a community, and this sweet dog is a perfect example,” the San Diego Humane Society shared. At 16 years old, the dog was discovered as a stray and taken to VCA Mission Valley by a caring community member. He had no lower jaw and a badly swollen muzzle, suggesting he had endured significant hardship. Yet despite everything, he greeted people with gentle eyes and a remarkably hopeful spirit.

The dog, who was initially called Alfie at SDHS, is now known as Blobert. After receiving compassionate treatment at VCA, he was transferred to the Humane Society’s San Diego Campus.
The team understood that a senior dog with such complex needs would require specialized attention. That was when Frosted Faces Foundation stepped in to help guide him through the next stage of his journey.

The organization committed to helping Blobert receive what every older dog deserves: a safe environment, affection and the opportunity to spend his remaining years with a loving family.
Frosted Faces Foundation began working toward finding Blobert a permanent home where he could feel secure and cherished.

The San Diego Humane Society also highlighted how much teamwork goes into saving an animal’s life. The organization expressed gratitude to VCA Mission Valley and Frosted Faces Foundation for working together to give Blobert another chance.
His journey showed that animal rescue is rarely the work of one organization alone. Veterinarians, shelters, rescue groups and compassionate members of the public all play an important role in helping vulnerable animals find safety and care.
Pupdate: Blobert has found his forever home!
After everything he had experienced, Blobert finally got the happy ending he deserved. This special senior dog now has the opportunity to enjoy his golden years surrounded by love and comfort.
