All canines, including those that look strange, deserve a wonderful permanent home. Dogs with special needs demand a lot of love and must find a human who understands their requirements.
And every now and again, these canines come upon kindred souls that are just like them. That’s what happened recently when a limb amputee veteran obtained a one-of-a-kind rescue dog who had also lost a leg.
Kane, a stray German Shepherd, is hit by an automobile and severely damages his right leg. His leg had to be removed when he arrived to the Inland Valley Humane Society in Pomona, California.
Kane, on the other hand, was not deterred by the loss of a limb. NBC Los Angeles reports that the three-legged dog “always runs like he had all four legs.”
Kane was up for adoption. A dog with a handicap is often difficult to place: prospective adopters prefer “normal” pets over shelter canines.
When Dane Orozco came to the shelter looking for a new companion, he instantly recognized Kane as the ideal dog for him.
They discovered they had one thing in common: they had each lost their right leg.
Dane is a soldier who lost his leg while serving in the military, according to the Inland Valley Humane Society. He wanted a new pet in part to cheer himself up.
My boss asked me what I liked since I was often depressed. What makes you happy? “I’ve always had dogs, but it’s been a long time since I’ve had one,” he said to NBC Los Angeles.
He knew it was written the moment he saw Kane standing joyfully on three legs. “As soon as I saw him, I fell in love with him,” Dane said. “I felt an instant connection with him.” Look at him, he’s flawless.
“I just had to have it. I’ve experienced being pushed aside as a result of it.
Kane is now overjoyed with his new owner. According to NBC, Dane takes him to work so he can be there for him whenever he needs it.
Kane’s relocation to such an ideal home thrilled the Humane Society. They shared the touching tale in a TikTok video, which received over 13 million views.
“We wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors,” said the shelter.
How wonderful that Kane and Dane met – it really is a love match made in heaven.
