A frightened stray Pit Bull named Cutie Pie experienced an incredible transformation after meeting a compassionate rescuer who patiently showed her that people could be trusted. What began as a nervous encounter quickly turned into a beautiful moment of friendship and affection.

Donna, a rescuer with Stray Rescue of St. Louis, first noticed Cutie Pie near an abandoned building. The dog appeared extremely cautious and wanted nothing to do with people. When Donna tried to gently encourage her to come closer, Cutie Pie kept her distance and quickly disappeared around the side of the building.
Fortunately, the property was surrounded by a fence, which allowed Donna to safely follow the frightened dog without chasing her through traffic or other dangerous areas. Instead of forcing Cutie Pie to approach, Donna remained patient and tried to earn her trust.
She began speaking softly to the dog while offering some of her favorite treats. At first, Cutie Pie was still hesitant. She watched Donna carefully and seemed unsure whether it was safe to come closer.
Then something remarkable happened.
Cutie Pie slowly began responding to Donna’s kindness. Her tail started wagging, and after some encouragement, she finally accepted a treat. That small step seemed to give her the confidence she needed.
