They Rescued a Kitten Who Couldn’t Walk—Her Incredible Recovery Left Everyone Speechless
When storms were approaching, Tails High, a volunteer-run animal rescue, received numerous requests for help. Among them was a tiny kitten whose heartbreaking condition would soon become an unforgettable story of hope.
A dilute calico kitten had been discovered abandoned on the road, struggling to move with badly injured legs. A compassionate stranger noticed her suffering, stopped immediately, and carefully picked her up to get her urgent medical attention.

“While rushing her to the emergency room, we noticed butterflies fluttering among the wildflowers along the highway,” Tails High shared. “They seemed like a little reminder that everything might be okay. That’s how we named her Flutterby.”
Despite a severe eye infection and broken legs, Flutterby remained determined to survive. Her right hind leg was placed in a splint, while veterinarians initially feared her left hind leg might require amputation after she gained sufficient weight.
However, this courageous kitten had other plans.
With constant medical attention, medication, and plenty of affection, Flutterby slowly began improving. Her appetite returned, her eyes healed, and her loving personality started emerging.
“With a full belly, her medication working, and thunderstorms rumbling outside, Flutterby purred, made biscuits, and leaned in for pets.”
After several weeks in foster care, she no longer needed her splint. Follow-up X-rays revealed encouraging healing in both hind legs, surprising everyone who had worried about her recovery.
Her rescuers were amazed as Flutterby began putting weight on her injured leg and walking comfortably.
Soon, she was chasing toys, bouncing around the room, and exploring everything with newfound confidence. It was difficult to believe that she had once been unable to use her back legs.

Eventually, Flutterby’s legs healed completely, and she was ready for her next adventure. During foster care, she had developed a special friendship with Sea Glass, a one-eyed tortie.
