Meet Lulo, a man navigating life on the streets in Severo, Brazil, grappling with formidable daily challenges. In his struggle to meet basic needs, he found solace in an exceptional friendship that transcended societal norms.
Enter Bingo, a homeless puppy, who became an integral part of Lulo’s life, their connection evolving into a profound bond. In the face of adversity, they became inseparable companions, offering each other invaluable companionship and support. However, as winter’s biting cold descended, their hardships intensified.
“Puppies are always there. They do not care about the wealth or poverty of their owners. That’s true love,” shared a deeply moved observer.
Despite his meager resources, Lulo scraped together enough funds to prioritize Bingo’s health, taking the pup to the veterinarian. With winter looming, his intention to buy a blanket for warmth took a backseat as the puppy’s well-being became paramount.
Within their community, Lulo and Bingo were known figures, and a compassionate soul provided them with a blanket to endure the harsh weather. Regrettably, this respite was short-lived, as someone heartlessly stole their sole source of warmth, leaving them exposed to the frigid temperatures once again.
“Every city should have a shelter. Regardless of the situation, everyone deserves a roof over their heads for the night,” emphasized another concerned individual.
With no alternative, the inseparable duo clung to each other tightly, seeking solace and warmth. Previously armed with two blankets against the cold, they now only had each other. Tragically, on the coldest night, Lulo and Bingo succumbed to the extreme temperatures, found huddled together—a final testament to their unwavering love.
“This is the breaking point. They are living beings just like us, and no one should endure such cold and sleep on the sidewalks. Let our voices be heard!” voiced another individual, overwhelmed with helplessness.

“How sad. We should have a little more love for our neighbors so that this stops happening.” Living on the streets is a grueling existence, and Lulo and Bingo spent their final days providing each other with love and support. However, the help they desperately needed never materialized. They left this world arm in arm, finding solace in the fact that, as long as they had each other, they were safe. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough.
“The least our leaders could do is create decent shelters.” Amidst these heart-wrenching reflections, they were laid to rest together, finding peace in the municipal cemetery. Now, united, they will find solace on the other side of the rainbow, free from hunger, cold, indifference, and rejection.
