Albums, a curious 3-year-old tabby cat, was exploring one day when his adventure took a frightening turn. Somehow, he became trapped in a narrow gap between an office building and an exterior wall.
The space was only about 4 inches wide, and Albums was stuck several feet inside. The walls were around 10 feet high, making it impossible for anyone to simply reach down and pull him out. Even worse, the tight space was making it difficult for him to breathe.
“Poor Albums was stuck very tightly between two walls with about a 4-inch gap,” RSPCA animal collection officer Julie Parsons explained. “No one knew how he managed to fit in there in the first place.”
Realizing they needed more help, RSPCA rescuers called the local fire department. Because of Albums’ position, firefighters had to carefully create an opening in the wall by removing the bricks one at a time. The delicate process took around three hours.
Albums was struggling to breathe, so every minute mattered. The firefighters also had to catch each removed brick to prevent anything from falling onto the trapped cat.
Finally, after hours of careful work, rescuers created an opening large enough to reach Albums. They gently pulled the frightened cat to safety and into their arms.
He was covered in dust and had debris in his eyes, but thankfully, he appeared to be otherwise unharmed. After scanning him for a microchip, rescuers discovered his owner — who happened to be a veterinarian.
“Having mummy as a vet meant we could leave Albums with her and she treated his eyes and kept a watch on him overnight,” Parsons said.
After such a terrifying ordeal, Albums was finally back where he belonged. What began as a dangerous adventure ended with a safe rescue and a very happy reunion with his family.
