In late May, Lammy was rescued by Aviary Creatures Rescue (ACR) in Lafayette, Louisiana. He had suffered severe chemical burns on his face, ears, and mouth. According to rescuers, he had also been thrown off a porch, slammed into a door, and repeatedly burned.
Rescuers immediately rushed Lammy to Lafayette Veterinary Care Center for emergency treatment. His skin was already beginning to peel away, and he was in tremendous pain. After receiving medication, however, he finally managed to eat a little.
Lammy also struggled to maintain his body temperature and was reluctant to move because of his injuries. Veterinarians wrapped him in warm blankets and placed him on a heating pad to keep him comfortable.
Over the following weeks, Lammy underwent several procedures to remove damaged and dying skin, allowing his body to begin healing. He was eventually transferred to a loving foster home through Trampled Rose Rescue, which partnered with ACR to support his recovery.
A month after his rescue, Lammy began showing remarkable progress. His fur started growing back in unexpected places, including around his face and ears. His caregivers were delighted to see him developing a distinctive moustache, unibrow, and blonde mutton chops.

However, his recovery has not been without challenges. The severe trauma around his eyes left his eyelids unable to close completely. Fortunately, his eyes themselves were not damaged, and his caregivers continue to monitor him closely for complications caused by scarring.
Throughout his recovery, Lammy has enjoyed the comfort of his foster home, where he spends time with his blind foster brother, Newt. His loving caregivers have remained committed to giving him the attention and medical care he needs.
