Heroes can appear in the most unexpected forms.
For one young girl in Argentina, five stray dogs became her protectors when they suddenly came to her aid during a terrifying attack.
A 12-year-old girl was reportedly saved by five stray dogs after a man attempted to sexually assault her.
The girl was walking alone toward her aunt’s home in the Costa Azul neighborhood of Argentina when the attacker reportedly grabbed her, covered her mouth and dragged her toward an isolated area. The incident took place around 9:30 in the morning on June 23, 2013.
The girl screamed during the attack, and her cries caught the attention of several stray dogs nearby.
The dogs rushed toward the scene and began attacking the man, giving the frightened girl an opportunity to escape.
She managed to break free and ran to a nearby neighbor’s home for help.
The neighbor immediately contacted police, who arrived and safely reunited the girl with her parents.
Authorities were unable to find the attacker, and reports did not provide information about what eventually happened to the five stray dogs.
But their actions that morning made an incredible difference.
The dogs may have been homeless, but when a vulnerable child needed help, they responded.
For that young girl, those five stray dogs will always be remembered as unexpected heroes.
