As Joe drove Gregory away from the shelter, an unforgettable moment unfolded. The grateful dog leaned against him and wrapped himself around his rescuer in a heartwarming embrace. Although Gregory was finally safe, his journey was not over. He still needed treatment for heartworm disease and plenty of time to recover. During his recovery, he had to follow strict crate-rest instructions, which left the normally energetic beagle feeling restless and unhappy.
