She was given to a new owner about 20 miles away in Prague, Oklahoma, when Cathleen the dog’s family relocated and were unable to retain her.
Cathleen, a six-year-old who has lived with her family since she was a puppy, decided to take things into her own hands since she missed them so much.
Last Monday, she strolled out of her brand-new yard and casually into the street. She was on her way home.
Animal management “noticed her traversing the neighborhood where she used to dwell,” Seminole Humane Society treasurer Marta Mattingly told The Dodo. Although they couldn’t grasp it, she was clearly missing her prior family.
Cathleen is the only one who knows how she finished the 20-mile hike safely. Despite being returned to her new owner, she attempted it again a few days later out of desperation to see her family.

Cathleen was evaluated by the vet and given the all-clear. She was adopted straight away. As soon as she earned the staff’s attention, applications for the shelter started to pour in.

Cathleen was definitely heartbroken by the death of her former owners, but she already has a new family in mind who will show her the attention she so well deserves and who will pick her up as soon as possible.
Cathleen will be able to socialize with numerous young children as well as four dog siblings in Texas. She has acres of safe yard space to explore, which is critical.
Mattingly believes Cathleen will have a fantastic time there.
